Artist Peter Zokosky leads participants at a past Getty Drawing Hour
The J. Paul Getty Museum offers a wide range of courses and demonstrations at the Getty Center and the Getty Villa.

Programs at the Getty Center focus on European art from the Middle Ages to today; programs at the Getty Villa explore the arts and cultures of ancient Greece, Rome, and Etruria.

We offer a range of gallery courses, studio courses, culinary workshops, handling sessions and artist demonstrations and projects throughout the year.

The Exquisite Page: Gold Gilding for Paper and Parchment

Shimmering gold embellishments enhanced Gothic manuscripts, propelling the ancient art of gilding to elegant, new heights. Learn about this medium in an in-depth workshop with artist Sylvana Barrett. Participants explore a variety of materials and techniques. Complements the exhibition Gothic Grandeur: Manuscript Illumination, 1200–1350.

Handling Session:
Glassmaking Techniques
Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays through February 26, 2012;
Getty Villa, Reading Room

From salt and sand to objects of beauty: drop by to learn about the transformative process of glassmaking in this unique handling session. Touch original works of art made by contemporary glassmakers as you examine the tools and recipes used to make these objects.
