In October–November 2009, the GCI collaborated with SEAMEO-SPAFA to organize and deliver a two-week field workshop at the historic settlement of Chiang Saen (Chiang Rai Province), Thailand. The workshop addressed international conservation principles and their application to historic settlements, the value and challenges of working in a multi-disciplinary team, and practical methodologies for engaging various sectors of the community in complex heritage conservation planning.
